Sometimes You’re the Bug…

And sometimes you’re the windshield. Today I was the bug – and I got squashed.

Still not sure what the windshield was, though.

I managed to complete 5K of what was supposed to be a 15K LSD (Long Slow Distance) barefoot treadmill run. And then everything just stopped. I didn’t run out of gas, because I didn’t seem to have any to start with. My body wasn’t working and – perhaps more significantly – neither was my head. No energy, no focus, no nothing.

As I said, I have no idea what the windshield was. I was bit tired yesterday, but I slept well last night, and I ate well last night and this morning. I’m not hurting anywhere, the hot spots on my heels (from Sunday’s solo treadmill “”race”) aren’t there any more, and I’ve been fueling well.

So I just have to suck it up and admit that sometimes, even for super-analytical sorts like me, the answers simply aren’t there. But that doesn’t stop me from wondering what the heck happened.
