Barefoot Runners’ Society

I’m pleased and honoured to say that I’ve been accepted as a member of the Barefoot Runners’ Society, as well as a beta tester for the organization’s new Web site.

The BSR’s tagline is “Changing the running world one odd look at a time”
and its stated goals are:

  • To offer resources that unite barefoot runners from around the country
  • To promote barefoot running and minimalist running around the country and at race events as a competitive sport
  • To educate the running public on the health benefits of barefoot and minimalist running
  • To dispel the myths associated with barefoot running that negatively impact the sport
  • At the moment, the BSR is formally structured only in the U.S., with chapters in Michigan, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Georgia, and Oregon. I’ve applied to start a chapter here in southern Ontario, but have to wait until the BSR sorts out some legal issues before getting the go ahead. I hope that works out.
