A most excellent 15k barefoot run this morning. 18C and very humid. I’m running the Niagara 50K Ultra one week from today!
About mid-way through the run, it occurred to me exactly why barefoot running so often becomes an active meditation experience. It is I think, because the mix of increased awareness, immediate and ongoing feedback, and improved form makes for a sustained “in the moment” consciousness. Being in that state for long periods of time makes us more aware of ourselves and the world around us. It makes us more human.
