Further

I had a wonderful 20K barefoot run this morning. That means I’ve run a total of 80 barefoot kilometers this week. I’m very pleased with that. The temperature was pleasant 15C, with a mix of sun and cloud and a light wind. After finishing the run, I had a protein shake, an espresso, and a shower. And felt very happy to be alive!

    1. Coming from someone who’s done Comrades, that’s saying a lot. Thanks! I was born in South Africa, by the way – in Pietermaritzburg – and have, from time to time, thought I might do Comrades. I wonder if that’ll happen.

  1. Indeed Alan. You provide a center for more barefooters than just myself. I’ve read almost your entire blog 2 or 3 times…It’s a very interesting read, and it has helped me step into the world of blogging and barefooting. For that, I’m forever thankful.

  2. Alan,

I’ve been following this blog for a few months now, and I’ve also been reading some of you old posts. I’m a 20 something barefooter who’s been working at it for almost 9 months. Everything that you’ve written here is enjoyable to read, and I look forward to more. I especially enjoy your posts about the peaceful feeling you get after a successful barefoot run. I’m also impressed with how far you are able to run barefoot–I’m still working in the 3-4 mile range, hoping to step it up soon. Thanks for your continued efforts on this blog.

    Best,

    Jeff Hammond

    1. Many thanks, Gustavo! (I’ve looked at your blog, by the way, and have subscribed to it. I look forward to reading more of your posts.)
